Before Your First MFR Treatment

We are excited that you have decided to come in for a treatment session!  Here are some frequently asked questions and things to know before your first treatment.

What is Myofascial Release (MFR) therapy?

MFR is a technique that works on the fascia, the connective tissue of the body, relieving everyday trauma at the root by applying gentle, sustained pressure.

How does Myofascial Release (MFR) help?

Many injuries have lasting impacts on your body but cannot be detected in standardized tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.).  Scott is able to help you reach your wellness goals by assessing and treating these restrictions.  MFR helps by using gentle pressure applied over an extended time to allow the connective tissue to elongate and release. This, in turn, allows nerves, blood vessels, and other tissues to open up resulting in less pain and increased range of motion.

Who should receive Myofascial Release (MFR) therapy?

Athletes, retirees, office workers, chronic pain sufferers, and anyone who experiences stress in their daily life. If you’re looking to do more of what you love, decrease pain and anxiety, and increase your flexibility, mobility, and well-being then MFR could be for you.

How long is each personalized treatment?

The first treatment is 90 minutes and all other treatments are increments of 60 minutes.

Is there anything I should do before I come in?

When you have decided to come in, please fill out this intake form:

https://ascendmfr.com/intake-form/

It makes the evaluation go much quicker so that I can spend more time helping you.

I also find that fasting/ not eating for a couple of hours before the treatment helps increase the benefits of the MFR session.

Where are you located?

We are located at 223 N. San Francisco St., Flagstaff, AZ 86001

It is across the street from the Flagstaff courthouse, on the corner of Cherry and San Fransisco St.

The front entrance has no steps and the back entrance has steps to enter.  If entering from the front, the office is on the first floor, down the hall on the right.

What should I wear to an appointment?

You should wear loose, comfortable clothes that allow the therapist the ability to work on your skin.  MFR works best when it is applied on the skin and that means you can get more out of each session!  Avoid applying any lotion or sunscreen on the day of the appointment as this makes it hard for your therapist to work on your skin.  We like to stay on one area and hold that area to activate the tissue deep in the body.

Men: running shorts/ athletic shorts

Women: running shorts, tank top, swimsuit/ bikini

You will be able to change when you get to the office.
